We all should loudly cheers for Bronze Medal In Badminton at Olympic 2012 – Saina Nehwal. She won bronze medals for the country in Asian Games and Asian Championship. Saina also won Three Gold Medals in Commonwealth Games- two in women’s singles and one in mixed team.
She is the role model of many girls, who love sports and has a dream to play for India. Saina Nehwal was born on 17th of March, 1990. She belongs to Hisar in Haryana. She is ranked fifth in the world by Badminton World Federation. She is the first Indian who won a medal in Badminton at Olympics. Saina became only the second Indian woman after weightlifter Karnam Malleswari in Sydney in 2000, to win an Olympic medal for India. She is the third Indian to win a medal in the London Games behind shooters Gagan Narang (bronze) and Vijay Kumar (silver).

Later on her family shifted to Hyderabad. Her father Dr. Harvir Singh is a scientist at the Directorate of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad. In the early age Sania Nehwal loved karate and in fact she is brown belt in karate. At the age of eight, she was asked to have motorcycle run over her stomach. She then and there quit Karate and started practicing Badminton in the Court of Faculty Club in University. Her role model is her father Dr. Harvir Singh and mother Usha Nehwal, both of them were former badminton champions in Haryana.

In 2002, Yonex sponsored Saina’s kit. In 2004, sponsorship increased and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited Signed her.

In 2006, in the Philippines Open she became the first Indian woman to win a 4-star tournament. In the same year, Saina won as runner up at the BWF World Junior Championships.

In 2008 Saina Nehwal became the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships by defeating Japanese Sayaka Sato.

In 2009 on 21 June in Indonesia Open, the most famous Badminton Series Of the world she won the BWF Super Series title. In the same year in August she reached the quarterfinals of world championship. In August, 2009 Saina Nehwal awarded with Arjuna award. Her coach Gopichand was also awarded with Dronacharya award.

In 2010, she became the brand ambassador of Deccan Chargers, an Indian Premier League Team. In the same year Saina Nehwal got rewarded with Padma Shri award in January and on August 29, she got awarded with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, highest national sporting award in India.

Saina Nehwal won the gold medal in CWG Delhi against Wong Mew Choo on October 14, 2010. She won Hong Kong super series on December 12, 2012 by defeating Wang Shixian of China. On 14 October, 2010 Saina won 2010 Commonwealth Games Gold in women’s singles Badminton event.

She also won Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold final on 10 June, 2012 by defeating Ratchanok Inthanon. In the same year she won Indonesia Open title by defeating Li Xuerui on 17 June.

On 4th of August 2012, she ultimately did it by winning a bronze medal at the London Olympics when China’s Xing Wang retired from the match due to a severe injury.
